Stewardship Planning Atlas
The Stewardship Planning Atlas will address GeoConnections' environment and sustainable development priority area by leveraging the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) to integrate diverse, distributed data in an online atlas. This atlas will enable users to create property maps for stewardship plans. Atop base layers and other context-setting data, users will be able to digitize fine-scale, local-level features and create custom maps for planning and operational purposes. The project will further extend the CGDI by exposing new data and services that capitalize on Open Geospatial Consortium specifications and that appear within the GeoConnections Discovery Portal.
The Stewardship Planning Atlas will accommodate a wide variety of applications, which will help generate a large user base. Compatible across browsers, platforms, and bandwidth capacities, the Atlas will be intuitive, easy to use, and free. The Atlas' architecture will also be designed to protect user privacy. Such an atlas is of great interest to government and NGO partners, and a dedicated group of collaborators are committed to bringing this project from concept to reality.
