Noetix Research has developed components and integrated third party
software to enable a user to manipulate and analyze sea ice charts
made available by the Canadian Ice Service (CIS).
The results of this project are:
- Internet access to the most comprehensive sea ice chart archive over Canadian waters in the world.
- Tools to manipulate a single sea ice chart.
- Tools to derive point statistics from multiple layers of climatological
data.
The Tools were created using ESRI's ArcIMS, ESRI ArcView, and Oracle
relational database.
The benefits of the creating the Online Analysis Tools are :
- Greater visibility and access to the Canadian Ice Service products
by the public.
- Ability to extract sea ice information without the need for
specialized geographic processing software.
- The user can create their own custom product suited to their
needs.
- Access to the most up to date charts generated by the Canadian
Ice Service Operations group on a routine basis.
